چکیده

Climate and land-use change profoundly affect plant species distribution (SD) composition, the impact of these processes is expected to increase in coming years. As a proxy global changes, knowledge SD diversity along climatic gradients essential determine efforts needed for conservation. Plant spectral an emerging approach used as based on remote sensing. Thus, research aim was develop comprehensive methodology richness mapping study their relations with environmental human-derived factors, demonstrated Mediterranean semi-arid gradient. The addresses two main gaps regarding diversity: (1) improving accuracy woody classification by features extraction selection, using texture analysis ecosystem characterized high spatial variability relatively small-sized sparse vegetation; (2) developing better estimate local ‎richness response factors (i.e. climate, topography, substrate, land cover factors) across transition zone between woodlands dwarf shrublands. Restoration of mediterranean-type woodlands and shrublands

There are only five mediterranean-climate regions (MCRs) on Earth – the Mediterranean Basin, most of California, central Chile, southern South Africa, and south-central and south-western Australia. They all have cool, or cold, and relatively wet winters alternating with long, hot, and dry summers. Spring and autumn seasons are ephemeral in comparison, and highly variable. During much of the yea...

Plant Species and Functional Types’ Diversity in Relation to Grazing in Arid and Semi-arid Rangelands, Khabr National Park, Iran

In arid and semi-arid rangelands, grazing as one of the natural or human induced processes has direct and indirect effects on structure and dynamics of plant community and ecosystems. A study was done to analyze the effects of grazing on plant species diversity and Plant Functional Types‘ (PFTs) diversity of arid and semi-arid rangelands. We analyzed plant richness and diversity data from 75 sa...

Patterns of distribution and plant diversity in along elevational gradient (Case study: Moghan-Sabalan rangelands)

The study of plant communities is the best way to learn about vegetation structure and distribution as well as various interactions among the plants in an ecosystem. Elevation factor plays a vital role in plant distribution that ultimately leads to specific phytogeographic regions. This study evaluated the changes in species composition, density, frequency, canopy cover and palatability of spec...

Correction: Changes in Semi-Arid Plant Species Associations along a Livestock Grazing Gradient

In semi-arid ecosystems, vegetation is heterogeneously distributed, with plant species often associating in patches. These associations between species are not constant, but depend on the particular response of each species to environmental factors. Here, we investigated how plant species associations change in response to livestock grazing in a semi-arid ecosystem, Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural P...

Plant Community Water Use and Invasibility of Semi-arid Shrublands by Woody Species in Southern California

Soil moisture is a key limiting resource in arid and semi-arid environments for woody shrub species. We assessed if three arid communities differed in their level of dry season soil moisture content and if the dominant species in these communities differed in their ability to use soil moisture. Water potential of all of the dominant woody plant species occurring in chaparral, coastal sage, and ...
